Women are the fastest growing entrepreneurs

I’ve noticed a wonderful trend over the past 6 or 8 years, Women are the fastest rising Entrepreneurs in the World. I say this from actual experience. I’ve been an Expert Web Developer/Designer/Programmer & Entrepreneur for approx 16 to 18 years now. Developed over 700 websites for clients in every income bracket, social status, in a multitude of locations. In the past few years I’ve noticed the percentage of my Client Base has drastically shifted to mostly women. I’d say approximately 70% of my Clients are women, of all races. I’m not sure what’s the reason for this shift, but I have a few opinions on the topic.

Here are some of the things I think plays into women’s favor:

  • Women generally have more disposable income than most men. Even if a man makes more, he generally has more Financial Responsibilities (household, kids, child support, dating), and therefore less of his money belongs to him.
  • Women are more willing to take a chance on a new idea & way of doing things.
  • Women are great managers, they are accustomed to handling their: household, kids, mate, family and job with great success.
  • The advent of the internet has made the playing field even for women. On the internet your gender doesn’t matter, Content matters. The internet has also made it way more affordable for a person to start a business, a fraction of the cost that a store front would cost with all the overhead.
  • Women are the #1 Consumer. Because of that, they know what other women want. That natural insight gives them the ability to market to other women effectively.

I for one LOVE this new trend. I love women and love seeing anything transpire that contributes to women excelling. I have many women in my family (mom, sisters, aunts, cousins, nieces), and I’m Passionately attracted to women, so anything that benefits them I’m excited about.

I’m sure you have an opinion on the subject. What do you think?

I agree with this…and i’m a young black man. So far as black women go, they outnumber black men in colleges all over. In every class I have this semester, women are just taking it over, lol. They also have better communication skills. They are the the #1 consumer just like you said…so who knows a woman better than…a woman? I actually think its cool…i’m just tryin’ to do my thing so far as online businesses go. Hopefully I can keep up, lol.

I tend to agree. Women understand that the real way to break the glass ceiling is to do it on your own. When owning a business, you have to answer to your customers, not to a boss, so the dynamic is definitely different. I for one am starting a business that is traditionally a man’s business, but the feedback so far has been great. I have taken on an incredibly different marketing tactic and hope to add something refreshing to the industry.

You have a great point Sean. There are more and more women with college degrees. Hey, if you got women clients that support & respect your business savy, You’ll have a winning formula. Not saying that men are any less important, I just love seeing women doing their thing. We can’t survive without each other. We are each others ying & yang.

I love what you have to say Louisa. Being your own boss is a Empowering feeling. Total freedom. At the same time, that comes with great responsibility. Smart moves equal smart outcomes 🙂 Hey! I should coin that phrase lol. I’d love to hear about your new business 🙂

WOW! I belive that is 100,000% True, women have lots more charge when it comes to taking control. I love entrepeneurs and especially love to see more women entrepreneurs taking the world over with business. Large or small business. They show they can change and rule the world with their creative and innovative ideas when it all comes down to business. I would like to meet and even make new partnership or some sort of business relationship with another potential women entrepreneur in the near future.

Most woman have more passion, emotion and a business to help it prosper and grow and meet its goals. .. .. … .

Too much more to say.. hehe

    Best wishes,

As a female entrepreneur, I feel that you hit the nail on the head with these two points! There’s nothing more for me to add. Great blog!
